The charity is not just the nation’s largest aquarium, but an exciting venue for an event, function, party or wedding! The Aquarium experience combines the colourful underwater world with ethical food. Great for meetings, the relaxing surroundings have something for every occasion.

The National Marine Aquarium’s functions and events facilities are one of Plymouth’s best kept secrets. Regularly used for Chamber of Commerce networking events, product launches, wedding receptions, parties, and conferences, the venue has a wow factor like no other. Whether it’s lectures with nibbles in front of the cinema screen sized Eddystone tank and its local inhabitants, taking in the views from the dedicated function suites, or intimate dinners beneath the deepest tank in Europe watching Sand Tiger Sharks and Nurse Sharks, the whole setting is hugely memorable.

The charity's mission is to drive Conservation through Engagement, and is in line with the charitable aims. The proceeds of events aid marine conservation.

The Aquarium tries to source all foods locally where possible: all meat and fish meet sustainable standards. Fruit and veg are used seasonally where possible. The Aquarium was the first attraction in the UK to operate closed loop recycling with partners Langage Farm and Alpha Logic. This process sees food waste processed by an anaerobic digester, turned into fertilizer, that is applied to Langage Farm’s fields to produce a better milk yield, which is then used to produce dairy products that are sold in the Aquarium.

The National Marine Aquarium is always interested to work with local suppliers. Please direct enquiries to Head Chef Craig Walker (01752 275205), [email protected]
